Carman Cooper has performed as a singer and actress since age 11. She received theatre and performance training as a teen in the Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit, where she participated as one of the Mosaic Singers, performing in many of their original productions. She has also performed in many local theatre productions such as Dreamgirls, Ain’t Misbehavin’, and Sister Act playing lead role of Deloris Van Cartier. Carman made her professional debut in 2018 playing the role of Sister Rosetta Tharpe in the Detroit Public Theatre's production of Marie and Rosetta. She also played The Lion later that year in the Mosaic alumni association’s production of The Wiz. She has recently taken up improv, and performs around metro Detroit with the Black and Brown theatre. As a lover of all things creative, she does freelance graphic design and video production, plays the guitar, as well as enjoys writing.
